Age distribution

Here, we examine the age range of all crew members recorded in the various muster rolls associated with the ships.

Positions on board

Able seamen (matros) and deck boys (jungman) increase sharply, for understandable reasons. But how is the distribution among the other positions on board the ships?

Marital status

A substantial amount of data is missing; however, among the individuals for whom information is available, unmarried men clearly predominate.
